Cracker Country

I've been anticipating studying early American history since I began schooling number one son 8 years ago.  I always dreamed of a trip to Williamsburg to enrich the experience.  Due to our current financial situation, Cracker Country is the best we can do, and that's not bad.  What a wonderful group of volunteers, devoted to the preservation of our florida history and committed to creating an historically educational experience.

Above is the orginal, turn of the century, one room church/school house, complete with the original wood burning stove used to warm the room and most uncomfortable pew benches.
Number one son, little man and a friend dipping candles.  Not entirely authentic as the wax was heated from below with kerosene heaters, but hot none the less.

This is quite literally one half of the house.  Directly to the right was the other half, a master bedroom.                   On the up side, it probably didn't take long to clean.

On the porch of the above home, little man churning the butter.

Laundry is my nemesis with electric equipment.  I just can't image this.

See her face?  Clearly not fully grasping the gravity of the reality this represents.

Green Iguana for lunch after.  They found the remnants of last year's halloween hair color.

It was a great day.  I love homeschooling.  I don't want to miss this.
